Theresa Santoro

Once upon a time in a distant land lived the PTA. A safe haven for mothers and fathers to gather and discuss school issues. Back in my parents day, the biggest fundraising concern they had was raising milk money for kids at school. Milk money! School supplies were provided by schools. Teachers had everything they needed. This was our parents generation of the PTA. Today the PTA is not just the PTA. It is the PTO, the Parent Support, The Dads Eliminating Needs, etc... A rose by any other name is still.....just a rose.

Remember bake sales as a kid? Peanut allergies were not even addressed. Fat kids? A rare sighting. Helicopter parents? Again, a non-issue. Parents allowed the school to teach, and usually supported the environment.

Today? I can say for certain that this is not your mama's PTA. This is a whole new world. Come join me as I take you down the new road to Parenting groups and their place in school.
